About the park

Victor Henderson Ashe II was a mayor who served the Knoxville TN community from 1987 to 2003. He is responsible for the growth in green spaces open to residents and guests to the area. He won the Cornelius Amory Pugsley Medal for his work beautifying the community which is why the park is named in his honor. Ashe became a Polish Ambassador for the nation after his service in Knoxville.

Recreational zones for school activities and public use

Four soccer fields give players room to practice and space for competitive games. These fields also double as football fields for middle and high school games. Two sand volleyball courts are the perfect place to meet up with friends on a sunny, summer weekend. Three horseshoe pits give you the chance to show off your skills making a ringer or two. One of the most popular places for park visitors to explore is the 18-hole tournament-grade disc golf area.

The fishing pond is another favorite place in the park. This area is excellent for spending some quiet time reflecting on life and what matters the most. Knoxville residents in West Haven and Wooded Acres can quickly access the fishing area from Interstate 620 or Highway 62, respectively.

The on-site dog park requires no leashes

While a leash is necessary for trail use, the dogs can go free in Dogwood Park. This puppy play place is near the large shelter along the entrance at 4901 Bradshaw Road. The one-acre pooch zone is completely fenced in and has features like a puppy playground, jump zone, incline platforms, and a water fountain for splashing around after an active play session.

The concession stand offers refreshments for park visitors. There are picnic pavilions, restrooms, and a child’s playground near the entrance of the park. There is parking near the play area. The shelters are available for reservation by calling 3-1-1. The picnic area, parking lot, and bathrooms are accessible by wheelchair.

Over two miles of trails with access to the Pleasant Ridge and Northwest Greenways

The Northwest Greenway is easy to reach from Victor Ashe Park with a connecting trail. Visitors can also get to Northwest Middle School Park from this juncture. A paved eight-tenths of a mile trail runs alongside the Pleasant Ridge Greenway giving park goers easy access to this area. Over 1.5 miles of dirt paths zig-zag back and forth across the park letting bicycle, scooter, skate, skateboard users soak up the sunshine and fresh air.

Victor Ashe Park has a style and design that makes it easy for people of all ages to enjoy. The walking trails are not overly difficult with slight inclines and slopes throughout the park. Many sports teams use the courts, but residents can reserve the soccer fields for private events at 865-215-1706. There are open areas where the community often hosts public celebrations at the park as well.
